In 1901, Japanese watchmaker Shogoro Yoshida opened the Yoshida Watch Shop in the heart of Tokyo. Over the next three decades, he would transform the business into Toyo Tokei Manufacturing, maker of wristwatches in a four-story located in Hino, Tokyo – a view neighborhoods away.

A defining moment for the company came on July 13, 1950, when the factory was revived in the aftermanth of World War II by its employees, determinded to cary on the tradition of adopted a more familiar name – Orient Watch Company Limited (オリエント時計株式会社, Oriento Tokei Kabushikigaisha). That same year, customer met the first ORIENT STAR watch.
